Circumference of a Circle - Math Online Tutoring
Circumference of a Circle - Math Online Tutoring Circumference of a circle is effective in determining the fencing details of the circle. It helps in determingcomplete details of the periphery of owners land. From this area of plot can be easily calculated. Area canbe calculated if circumference is known. From the circumference value first we need to calculate the radiusand then with radius we can calculate area. The unit of the circumference is generally m or cm. Circumference of circle = 2 x pie x r This can be understood by the detailed examples, which are given below:- Example 1:- Find the Circumference of circle when diameter is 420 cm. Solution:- Given the diameter of circle, d is 420 cm. We know that the radius of circle is (radius is always half of the diameter), r = 420/2 420/2 = 210 cm. Now circumference of circle = 2 x pie x r Therefore Circumference of circle, C = 2 x 22/7 x 210 So C = 1320 cm. Hence the circumference of circle = 1320 cm. Example 2:- Find the Circumference of circle when diameter is 700 cm. Solution:- Given the diameter of circle, d is 700 cm. So the radius of circle is, r = d/2 = 700/2 = 350 cm. Now circumference of circle = 2 x pie x r Therefore Circumference of circle, C = 2 x 22/7 x 350 So C = 2200 cm. Hence the circumference of circle = 2200 cm.

Data science as we know it today would not have been possible without major advancements in technology. One of the first major examples of data science comes from the US, where IBM won a contract to collect, organize and digitize the information from the countryâs social security users. The progression of computer systems has been vital for the progression and the subsequent specializations wit hin data science and can be defined as the product of both statistics and computer science. Consequently, beginner data scientist usually enrol for one online statistics course or the other to grasp important statistical concepts. The role of the data scientist can be defined as the collection, cleaning, modelling, and processing of big data. This data is usually a mass of unstructured information from a wide array of courses, such as business systems, banks, or governments. This, coupled with the vast array of specializations that both data analysis and data science offer can be enough to deter people from either entering the job market or from choosing the right position.Knowing how the two differ in terms of qualifications is also important for students who might be interested in enrolling inr either a data analytics or data science course. Knowing what kind of jobs ar e available after graduation can be a deciding factor in what type of undergraduate and graduate program to choose. When looking at different specializations, take into account what kind of skills keep being repeated and look for those skills in the university programs you are deciding from. This can give you a clearer picture on whether a program is based more in mathematics, business, computer science, and more. The following chart describes the most common skills required of data scientists and data analysts both in school and in the job market. Then you know that when you learn a new language, it involves more than simply thumbing through a Russian dictionary or memorizing the Russian numbers and days of the week. You need to learn Russian grammar rules in order to build understandable sentences.Of course, you can learn some Russian words and phrases from your textbooks or phrase book, but at some point you will want to go beyond saying hello, pleased to meet you, giving a rote compliment and asking âDo you speak English?â If you want to speak Russian halfway fluently, Russian vocabulary is not the only aspect you need to work on: you will also need to study pronunciation, reading the Cyrillic alphabet and, of course, sentence structure. So here is a small guide on how to properly structure Russian p hrases, so that the next time you travel to St. Petersburg, Moscow or elsewhere in the former USSR you will be understood. Whether you are taking Russian lessons online or in a classroom, most phrases you learn will be set up this way:? ??? ? ???????? I have a cold. The subject is in the nominative case (the form of the noun you will find first in a dictionary) whereas the direct object is in the accusative. You will need to conjugate Russian verbs in the proper tense, of course.Knowing grammar rules can help you translate full Russian sentences. Photo credit: quinn.anya on Visualhunt.comIntroducing indirect objectsIndirect objects (in English, they are introduced by âtoâ or âbyâ) usually come after the verb, but whereas in English they come:After the direct object if a preposition (âtoâ, âforâ, âbyâ) is used (I gave a book to Sanya.)Before the direct object if none is used (I gave Sanya a book.)Russian words - in this case, the nouns - are declined. We have seen that subjects are in the nominative case and direct objects in the accusative case. This means that the indirect object can be placed either before or after the direct object without anyone becoming confused, as it will be in the dative cas e.You can say:?? ????? ?????? ?????????. I am going to school.Make learning Russian fun with Russian language games to practise sentence structure. How to Place Emphasis in a Russian SentenceNow that we have talked about the order of Russian words in a sentence, hereâs something you need to know: the subject+verb+objects order is optional.Because Russian has cases, word order is not quite as important for determining the role of each noun in the sentence. This means that nouns can be moved around for emphasis.New information tends to come at the end of a sentence. For example, in English we might differe ntiate between:My sister is an architect. The important information is not the sister, but the fact that sheâs an architect. My sister is the architect. The sister is the more important information here. There was talk of architects and the sister is named as one. When you speak Russian, you can do this by reversing the word order.??? ?????? ?????????? corresponds to âmy sister is an architect.â?????????? ??? ?????? is the equivalent of âmy sister is the architect.âThis means that everything we said before is only one way of learning basic Russian sentence structure. It is the most usual way, and itâs good to remember these tips as they will help you focus on what you want to say without worrying about emphasis.Expressing yourself in Russian means understanding grammar rules. Photo credit: RSNY on Visual HuntHowever, as you progress from beginner to intermediate level or even advanced levels and learn to read Russian literature in the original rather than translations, you will notice that many authors such as Pushkin or Tolstoy will switch around words in a sentence. Thatâs why itâs so important to gain proficiency in the declensions of Russian nouns, so you always know what function a word has in a sentence. If you travel to Russia and your listening comprehension increases, you will also notice people doing it in common speech and as you gain fluency, you can try it out as well as you figure out what works and what doesnât. This is something you can practise in Russian lessons with your teacher.Asking Questions in RussianThere are two types of questions:Questions that can be answered by either yes or noQuestions that need a more comprehensive answer and generally need question wordsAsking yes or no questions in RussianSimple questions in the Russian language course are just that: simple. You donât need to change anything about the word order, simply add a question mark when writing or raise your voice at the end when speaking.?? ????? ????? ? He is writing a letter?? ????? ??????? Is he writing a letter?Asking questions in Russian is an important part of learning the language. Photo credit: hehheh78 on VisualHuntAsking questions using question wordsCommon question words in English are:Who?What? When?Where? Why?How?But there are many more, compound question tags that also have Russian counterparts, such as:Whose? How many? How much? What kind/ what sort? Also, Russian uses its own question words for âwhere toâ (????) and where from (??????).Here are some of the most frequently used question words in Russian:EnglishRussianWho???What??????When?????Where???Why???How???How much/how many???????You can pair them with common Russian verbs to form useful questions.Though most aspects of Russian sentences are permutable, question words are always at the beginning of a sentence.??? ??? What is this???? ??? Who is it???? ??? Where is it?Now, some of these need to be declined to suit their grammatical role in the sentence. For exampl e, both ??? (what?) and ??? (who?) are declined:NominativeAccusative DativeGenitiveInstrumentalPrepositional?????????????????????????????????????????Also, whose? (???) needs to agree in number, case and gender to the object or the person it refers to.
How 1% improvement can turn an F into an A
How 1% improvement can turn an F into an A Improving Academic Performance Most students donât realize how small, incremental improvements can accumulate over time to create significant jumps in skill level or academic performance. Letâs begin by exploring some theories about performance and success that have a lot to do with becoming comfortable struggling and striving to make small improvements. Later, weâll show how a seemingly small improvement of just 1% a week can turn an F into an A. One of the most important things for students to realize is that intelligence is something you build over time. It's not something you are born with. Just like working out helps your muscles grow, reading, writing, studying, preparing for and being tested, etc., helps your intelligence grow. The theory that your intelligence is like a muscle that can grow over time is called the âgrowth mindsetâ and has been studied and espoused by Carol Dweck, a professor of Psychology at Stanford, for over a decade. It is related to the research done by Angela Duckworth at the University of Pennsylvania, which shows that âgritâ and the ability to persevere are a better predictor of academic performance over time than a studentâs initial IQ score. The opposite of the âgrowthâ mindset is the âfixedâ mindset, which is where you fundamentally believe that your intelligence is static. Itâs driven by your IQ, which you believe canât be improved, and in any given area of your life, you either have an inborn talent for something, or you donât. Most people, of course, are more growth mindset-oriented about some things and more fixed mindset-oriented about others. The more you adopt a âgrowth mindsetâ the harder youâll try to solve problems and keep going at a task until you figure it out, and this process builds intelligence. A character trait called âgritâ is what leads to sustained effort in the face of multiple failures or obstacles. So, having a growth mindset and being âgrittyâ are highly related. I like to argue that there are three dimensions to the âgrowth in your intelligenceâ that occurs over time when you keep trying to learn something in a sustained, deep, and focused way. First, you become âsmarterâ simply because you remember more facts and concepts. But, second, you also build new learnable skills related to math, reading, and writing that go beyond just remembering facts. And finally, you become âsmarterâ as your brain builds new neural connections, and in some small but meaningful way, becomes more efficient and effective at solving problems. Now, letâs take a turn with this article and explore the concepts above in the context of an interesting âperformance ruleâ I was recently exposed to when listening to a presentation by a business consultant named David Nour â" the 1% rule. Imagine that you get just 1% better at something every week. In about a year, you will be almost twice as good at it. It didnât seem quite right to me when I initially heard it, so I decided to create a scenario for this article and work out the math behind the 1% rule to test it. Imagine that you or your child is in a math class Calculus 1. On the first quiz of the year, he or she received an F, having earned only 55 of the 100 points on that exam. What would happen if you adopt a growth mindset, and commit yourself to studying hard and improving slowly over time. You set a goal of improving by just 1% every week. They just tend to have trouble getting out of the fixed mindset, which suggests that there are âmath peopleâ with a talent for math for whom math classes are just far easier to comprehend. But Angela Duckworth, who I referenced earlier, offers up a nice âperformance formulaâ to address this concern, which I initially was exposed to in the Psychology Podcast by Scott Barry Kaufman. I wrote about it in an earlier blog article, but Iâll recreate it here because I just find it so powerful and important for students to digest, internalize, and believe. PERFORMANCE = SKILL X EFFORT. This means that how well you do is a function of how much skill you have AND how much effort you apply. I find this intuitively true. But now, letâs explore what skill is really all about. SKILL = TALENT x EFFORT. Skill is a function of two things. First, it has something to do with talent, which Duckworth describes as the factor that is driven by genetic makeup and natural ability. However, skills are also a function of how much effort you put into building skills. Practice builds skills, and practice requires effort. By doing a little algebra, we get to â" Performance = [TALENT x EFFORT] x EFFORT, which reduces to â" Performance = TALENT x EFFORT2 What this means is that effort is twice as important as talent when it comes to explaining success. So, if you want to earn that A in a complex math class, rest assured that your commitment to working hard is going to be more important than your ânaturalâ math ability. I cannot underestimate the importance of believing deeply in the power of making small, incremental improvements. These improvements can and do accumulate over time. Before too long, you can become and expert at academic subjects you had previously considered extremely confusing and frustrating to understand.
Understanding Boredom and ADHD
Understanding Boredom and ADHD Kids with ADHD thrive when they are engaged in activities that are exciting, interesting, and challenging. In fact, sometimes it may seem like their ADHD has practically disappeared when theyre doing something that they enjoy. On the flip side, when activities are more routine and less interesting, kids with ADHD quickly become painfully bored. They struggle to focus, and will try just about anything to escape the boredom. At school, youll find them jumping up to sharpen their pencil even though it already has a perfect point, asking to get up and get a drink of water even when theyre not thirsty, or asking for the bathroom pass just so they can leave the room. Why do everyday tasks seem so boring to kids with ADHD? Kids without ADHD might not enjoy these activities, but they dont seem to be tortured by them. Much of the boredom and difficulty focusing that kids with ADHD experience has to do with individual differences in the amount of mental stimulation that they require before their brain will click into gear and become engaged. Everyone has an optimal level of mental stimulation that they need in order to focus and learn. If something is too mentally stimulating, it will hard to stay engaged for very long. If something is not mentally stimulating enough, then it will be hard to focus right from the start. For kids (and adults) without ADHD, the amount of mental stimulation that they need for optimal focus and engagement would fall somewhere in the average range (about a 5 on a scale from 1-10). For individuals with ADHD, their brains work a bit differently. In order for their brains to click into gear, and focus without a great deal of effort, an activity or task needs to be more interesting than average. It may need to fall around a 7 or an 8 on our scale. Take a look at the graphic above. The student in this picture is presenting a pretty interesting book report - its about a 6 on our scale. Most kids in the room arent having a problem staying engaged, and the teacher isnt expecting anyone to find the presentation boring. Unfortunately, for the typical students with ADHD, this presentation is just not interesting enough. Their brains arent clicking into gear and they arent naturally engaged like most of the other students. They find the presentation boring and may find it very uncomfortable to stay seated and listen. Research has shown that many kids with ADHD use physical movement as a strategy for increasing mental engagement, since movement actually stimulates the brain. So, the students with ADHD will probably start fidgeting, and some may even try to find an excuse to stand up and get out of their chair. If the presentation was just a bit more interesting, either because of the topic area or because it included pictures or interactive activities, then it would cross the engagement threshold for the kids without ADHD and the kids with ADHD. If you observed the students listening to this more engaging presentation, you might not be able to guess which kids in the room had ADHD. They would not seem bored, they would probably be sitting pretty still, and they would be listening attentively. These differences in the level of mental stimulation required for kids with ADHD lead to the perception that they can focus when they want to or when something is interesting to them. It confuses parents and teachers who struggle to understand why a child with ADHD can focus so well on videogames but cant stay engaged when he or she is completing school assignments. Even outside of academics, it frustrates everyone when a child with ADHD complains that he or she is bored when everyone else seems to be having a good time. Its important to remember that kids with ADHD dont choose to be bored. There are very real brain-based differences that make many everyday situations actually feel very boring for kids with ADHD. While the world cannot change to accommodate the mental engagement needs of all kids with ADHD, there are some strategies that parents, teachers, and kids can do to help their brains click into gear more often. Ill be talking about those strategies in my next post, so stay t uned! ABOUT DR. That means that what you see in a film will never be 100% accurate in its depiction of people or cultures. Its part of what made the film so great and so interesting.SnatchLanguage: English (British)Year: 2000You might be looking to adapt your ears to the rougher British dialects. If thats the case, h ave a look at Snatch (directed by Guy Ritchie). The film is about a diamond, a group of thieves and a boxing promoter named Turkish (played by Jason Statham) who finds himself indebted to a dangerous gangster. Its an extremely exaggerated look at the British underworld so the film features some great examples of different English accents and dialects. Some are easier to understand, such as the southern dialects, and there are harder ones like those from the north. Then there are near-impossible onesâ"like the bizarre accent Brad Pitt uses.We did say to be careful. This film is a great way to train your ears but you have to keep in mind that its a comedy film, so not everything will be 100% true to the culture its depicting.???? (Xìngfú ShÃguang Happy Times)Language: Chinese (Mandarin)Year: 2000Directed by Zhang Yimou, Happy Times begins as a comedy but quickly shifts to drama as it showcases the desperation of a former factory worker, Zhao (played by Benshan Zhao), who opens up a very small hotel in his attempt to regain a life of relative comfort and happiness. He unintentionally finds himself caring for an orphaned girl, Wu Ying (played by Jie Dong). Together, they work to make the hotel a functioning business. The film is great for Mandarin learners who want conversational language. Its also fantastic for those who want to see the heart of China in the present day. The film focuses on characters who have fallen victim to the nations move toward capitalism. Its not a happy movie but everything from the cinematography to the dialogue strives to showcase what living in China is like for those with less than others, which is something no one should ignore.Infernal AffairsLanguage: Chinese (Cantonese)Year: 2002Revolving around the Hong Kong Triads and the police force, Infernal Affairs (directed by Andrew Lau and Alan Mak) focuses on two people, Chan Wing-Yan (played by Tony Leung), an undercover cop in a triad gang, and Lau Kin-Ming (played by Andy Lau ), a triad member who has infiltrated the Hong Kong police force. If the plot sounds familiar, its because Infernal Affairs was remade as Martin Scorceses 2006 film, The Departed, but dont be tempted to use that to work your way through the dialogue and plot because for the most part, the two movies are vastly different. With Infernal Affairs, you can pick up both formal and informal Cantonese conversations. Its also a great way of showcasing Hong Kongs darker side, the one you wont see as a tourist. But to understand the culture of Hong Kong, thats the kind of thing you have to keep in mind, and the film helps with that by capturing the spirit of the city and the westernized culture.Volver (Return)Language: Spanish (Castilian)Year: 2006Directed by Pedro Almodóvar, Volver starts off with Sole (played by Lola Dueñas) returning to her small village for the funeral of her Aunt Paula. On her way back to Madrid, Sole discovers the ghost of her mother, Irene (played by Carmen Maura), stowing away in the trunk of her car. Meanwhile, Soles sister and niece, Raimunda (played by Penélope Cruz) and Paula (played by Yohana Cobo), must deal with a murder and their discovery of the truth about Paulas father. Its a fantastic comedy for Spanish learners as it uses various characters and places to showcase different aspects of Spain. Youll see the countryside life and youll be able to compare it to the more urban environment of Madrid. Youll get a great sense of the architecture, the people and, of course, the Castilian dialect of Spanish, which is quite easy to understand in this film.Libertador (The Liberator)Language: Spanish (Venezuelan)Year: 2013This movie by Alberto Arvelo tells the story of Simón BolÃvar (played by Ãdgar RamÃrez), a great Venezuelan historical figure. He was a 19th century military leader who fought against the Spanish monarchy. Through his campaign across South America, he helped to bring independence to Venezuela and several other Latin Am erican countries. The Spanish in the film is Venezuelan and for the most part, the conversations may seem a little formal, which might be a great thing for language learners. It tells the story of a young medical student who travels through South America, contemplating the poverty and suffering rampant throughout the continent. That student eventually becomes the Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara (played by Gael GarcÃa Bernal). The film largely contains Rioplatense, which is a dialect spoken in the areas surrounding Argentina and Uruguay. The language may be slightly difficult if youre just a langua ge learner trying to pick it up, but thats not where the value in this film lies. The Motorcycle Diaries does a fantastic job at showcasing Latin America and the history behind many of the countries, as well as the life and personality of one of its most important historical figures.Aquele Querido Mês de Agosto (Our Beloved Month of August)Language: Portuguese (European)Year: 2008Filmed across Portugal, Our Beloved Month of August (directed by Miguel Gomes) is a docu-drama in which a father, obsessed with his daughters resemblance to her mother, begins to grow wary as she develops an infatuation of sorts with her cousin. Its more a collection of clips of people just being people, which is perfect for those who are just looking to pick up on more basic aspects of Portuguese such as colloquialisms, grammatical structure and the like. Its also a wonderful exhibition of Portugals lush countryside and people. If all you want from a film is the language and an honest depiction of culture, then this is the film for you.Pane e Tulipani (Bread and Tulips)Language: ItalianYear: 2000After being left behind by her husband and her son, Rosalba (played by Licia Maglietta) hitchhikes her way to Venice, where she begins a new life working at a flower shop. The premise is quite simple, as is any premise for a romantic comedy, but dont let that fool you. Bread and Tulips (directed by Silvio Soldini) is an excellent example of what Italy is all about: romance, beauty, great food and the enjoyment of life.Of course, Italian language learners will benefit greatly from the dialogue, but youll also get a glimpse of what Venice is like and how people there really liveâ"taken with a grain of salt, of course. Much of it is still highly romanticized.?????????? (Stalingrad)Language: RussianYear: 2013If youre a lover of films about war and romance and you happen to be learning Russian, we have the perfect film for you: Stalingrad (directed by Fedor Bondarchuk), a war film set in 1942 duri ng the Battle of Stalingrad. That was the battle where the Soviet Union fought to defend Stalingrad against the Nazis and their allies. The film doesnt paint either side as being particularly heroic or villainous as other war films do, but instead attempts to remind viewers that every soldier fighting, regardless of their allegiance, was a human being capable of immense love as well as horrific violence. The battle of Stalingrad was an important point in Russias history and while the film does take certain liberties with its source material, it still manages to embody the intensity of it. Theres also a fantastic amount of Russian with both informal and formal conversations taking place, which language learners will undoubtedly benefit from hearing.A Coffee in BerlinLanguage: GermanYear: 2012Fans of dark comedies might enjoy A Coffee in Berlin (directed by Jan-Ole Gerster), a black and white film which follows Niko (played by Tom Schilling), a college dropout who wanders Berlin, encoun tering one eccentric person after another. The film might not be great for those who want to see what life in Germany is like, but its great at showcasing the spirit of Berlin and German humor (yes, Germans do have a sense of humor), as well as the grittier aspects of German cultureâ"the things they probably wont show you in the brochures. For language learners, its a fun film with which you can learn German because theres a lot of informal conversationâ"curse words and everything.La Vie en Rose (Life in Pink)Language: FrenchYear: 2007Edith Piaf was a musical icon in the mid-20th century and La Vie en Rose (directed by Olivier Dahan) adapts her life to the screen. The film stars Marion Cotillard as Piaf and follows the singers tragic life from childhood to the peak of her singing career, and then to her fall. This movie is a must for any fan of Edith Piaf. The songs are all sung by Piaf, while the rest of the film shows audiences just a little bit of French history and how their vib rant culture survived some very dark times, while acknowledging that theres more to it than just the romanticized aspects you see on television. Theres also the wonderful language present throughout the film. Its more or less what youll hear in modern-day France, if not just a little more refined to fit the film.Le Mirage (The Mirage)Language: French (Canadian)Year: 2015This French-Canadian film, directed by Ricardo Trogi, depicts the life of Patrick (played by Louis Morissette) as he goes through a midlife crisis. Its a film full of drama, laughter, sex and growth, relatable for pretty much everyone who isnt too put off by more mature themes. The French-Canadian language is a little different from European French and The Mirage is a great exhibition of the dialect. Youll also get a sense of life in Quebec as well as an idea of what the people are like. Its a dark comedy, so expect almost everything to be exaggerated for the sake of shock and humor. You may also notice a bit of soci al commentary in the subtext of the film, so its a really great one to watch if youre trying to challenge your language skills.?? (Tenten Adrift in Tokyo)Language: JapaneseYear: 2007Based on a novel by Yoshinaga Fujita, Adrift in Tokyo (directed by Satoshi Miki) follows a lazy student, Fumiya (played by Joe Odagiri), who owes a lot of money to loan sharks. Its a beautifully written film that encapsulates the spirit of Japanese customs and traditions as well as the darker side of Japanese society. It takes audiences across Tokyo, giving audiences a fantastic look at life throughout the city. So if youve ever wanted to visit Japan but could never find the time or money, Adrift in Tokyo would be a great place to start.?? (Myeongryang) (The Admiral: Roaring Currents)Language: KoreanYear: 2014In 1597, a battle took place between Japan and the island of Jindo, in the Myeongnyang Strait. On one side was a Japanese fleet of more than 300 ships to support their invasion of Korea.Against them was Korean admiral, Yi Sun-sin (played by Choi Min-Sik), with a fleet of just 13 ships. The Admiral: Roaring Currents (directed by Kim Han-min) tells the story of that battle and the admirals brilliant defeat of the Japanese navy. Its an incredible bit of Korean history and will only help to shed more light on the historic relationship between Japan and Korea. Of course, the language will be slightly different from modern-day conversations in Korean, which makes it better for Korean language learners who want a film free of colloquialisms. Now, Start Watching the Best Foreign Films! These are some of the best foreign films to help you learn mor e about different cultures and languages.
